M87*
From the viewpoint of an observer outside a black hole, time stops. M87* is a supermassive black hole about 57 million light-years away from Earth. It is the first of its kind ever to be imaged by humans. Chandrasekhar: “The black holes of nature are the most perfect macroscopic objects there are in the universe: the only elements in their construction are our concepts of space and time.” M87 is a 140cm diameter luminaire designed by Lumus Instruments.
