Memor is a multimedia art project by the multidisciplinary studio Lumus Instruments and filmmaker Dammes Kieft. It explores the interplay between a technological entity and a human being. This audiovisual dialogue delves into the profound concept of memory fragmentation. How do we distinguish real memories from ones that are imagined? As makers, we questioned ourselves how the fast-paced character of our society plays a role in our capability to forge lasting memories. “As creatives working in fast paced industries that demand ever shorter deadlines, we race against the clock doing what we love. We face the fact that in the aftermath of projects, we experience gaps when trying to recall the recent past. The memories of our own creations become opaque and fragmented.” The film plays with two different characteristics that explain how we memorize. The first is mnemicity, which tells us whether a memory is real or imagined. And the second is temporality, referring to the sequence in which events happened.
